Item Description
This is a framed 24" x 36" photograph of a wave that breaks off the Little River Headlands, south of Mendocino. There is a rock offshore from Van Damme Beach State Park that just reaches the surface of the ocean at low tide. This rock is surrounded by deeper water, and when the wave breaks, something unusual happens. Either the preceding wave has bounced back from some other underwater feature, or another wave is curling around from somewhere else. The end result is that the two waves going in opposite directions meet and make BIG splashes! This phenomena changes with the time of year, the time of day, the direction of the waves, the height of the waves, the tide and the wind. It is a display that is never twice the same.
