Yucatan, ancient and present home of the Mayan people in Southern Mexico, was once the site of one of the most advanced civilizations in the world. Part of their exquisite culture was their food! The regional dishes of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula, known as Yucatecan cuisine, is a unique melange of influences from Europe, Mexico and the Caribbean. The influence of the ancient Maya, whose legacy can be felt in many aspects of life in the Yucatan, is especially prevalent in the food of the region. Some of the dishes are unique to the area, while others are eaten throughout Mexico. Eight guests will be hosted by Mastersons in their beautiful oceanfront home for an authentic Yucatecan dinner prepared by two descendants of the Maya, cooks raised in the tradition of Yucatecan cuisine and proud to present it to you.
