A personally guided tour for up to four people of the Institute and its collections, conducted by president and founder Miles Kreuger, one of the foremost authorities on the history of musical theatre and film in this country. The Institute of the American Musical is the largest archive of material regarding Broadway and Hollywood musicals in the world, containing photographs, scripts, scores, programs, film, recordings, posters, record catalogues, correspondence and much else besides. Especially notable are scripts donated to the Institute by Cole Porter and recordings donated by Richard Rodgers. The movie stills collection alone amounts to over 250,000 items. Situated in mid-town Los Angeles, the Institute has been described by the Librarian of Congress as "a national treasure."
