Item Description
Trends in fine dining range for the risqué (eating sushi of a bare bodkin) to the downright risky (sharp knives in a pitch black setting, not a good combination). The newest trend is more surreptitious.
Clandestine dinners (sometimes called underground dinners, pop-up restaurants, secret supper clubs) are creative ways to approach the dining experience. The dinners are hosted in unique locations from homes to warehouses to lofts, often the location is not provided until the day of the event. Chefs can experiment and have a more direct relationship with the diners at an underground dinner. Underground dinners attract adventurous patrons looking for a unique culinary experience and a more social setting than restaurants. Communal tables ensure that good conversation becomes as important to the experience as the food.
Stag Dining Group (featured here in the San Francisco Bay Guardian) is an eclectic dining society. We invite anyone and everyone to come share a meal with us. We believe in communal dining and try and present a very special experience. We provide between five and six-course meals set in secret locations around San Francisco.
