Item Description
This is a very rare original silk-screen printed show card from the 1928 production of Eugene O’Neill’s “Marco Millions” created by the ground-breaking theatre designer Lee Simonson. Lee Simonson (1888-1967) created sets for many classics including “Idiot’s Delight”, “Amphitryon 38” and “Liliom” and was at the forefront of bringing American stage design from realism into 20th Century stylization and expressionism.
This show card is regarded as a significant example of early 20th Century theatre art and of the posters of the Theatre Guild which presented original stage works by O’Neill, Shaw, Saroyan, Gershwin, Rodgers and more.
The show card is in very good condition. There is some water staining along the bottom, some chipping in the upper right hand corner and minor light scuffing . But the overall presentation is very good for a piece of this age and a rare collector’s find!
