Item Description

Join Dr. Ben Becker, marine ecologist and director of the Pacific Coast Science & Learning Center at the Point Reyes National Seashore, for the ultimate springtime tidepool experience. Invite up to 9 special friends to join you to explore one of the largest and least visited rocky intertidal sites in Marin county, near Bolinas Point.  Ben will guide your guests along the rocky intertidal zone, where you will learn about the incredible diversity of animal and plant life and how special adaptations allow them to thrive in this extreme habitat.

During the spring low-tide is your group's best chance to see sea anemones, purple sea urchins, sea stars, colorful sea slugs and tiny crabs that live in this hidden world.  Ben will also discuss current monitoring and research programs that are helping to track oil spill impacts and global climate change. Your once-in-a-lifetime experience includes a picnic lunch for your entire group. Put your bid in today!

Item Special Note

Dates and time to be determined, but must coincide with extreme low tides. Children are welcome. Bring water, sunscreen, sturdy shoes, hats and layered clothing.  Moderate 1/2 mile hike, flat but slippery rocks can be challenging.  Valid through September 10, 2012.
