About the Author

Known as a faith and values political leader, Joe is finishing his second full term as Chairman of the Alabama Democratic Party. Joe was a two-time party nominee for the United States Congress and the founding director of Alabama s conservation lobby organization. Joe has seen state and national politics up close and personal as member of the Democratic National Committee. Joe was a super-delegate to the 1996 and 2008 Democratic Presidential Conventions where he chaired the Alabama Delegation. A businessman by profession and training, Joe currently is a strategic organizational and economic development consultant for clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies to non-profit organizations. Joe s work has taken him to five continents where he has encountered a vast diversity of culture and leadership. Civic service is a cornerstone of the author s life. Over the past twenty-five years Joe has served on dozens of boards and committees and is currently a national board member for Democrats for Life of America. As a lay-leader and part-time Sunday school teacher, Joe has studied, taught and spoken at venues around the country and is an active member of the First Baptist Church of Auburn. Joe writes regular columns for Alabama newspapers and is a frequent guest commentator on radio and television. Joe lives in Auburn, Alabama with his wife of twenty years, Paula, and their two children, Pete Matthew and Abby.
