Sumi-e ink on gold embossed rice paper mounted over
transparent water color on 120 lb Arches cold pressed paper. Suitable
for flush mounting 13" x 20." I have studied Asian Brush for five years and am interested in classical Chinese horse painting. This was done on Mustang Island in Texas where we winter. I imagine the wild horses that gave this Island its name running in the surf.
Item Special Note
Artist's statement
I have been pursuing water colors - mainly plein aire of local scenes of
the Apostle Islands area - for the last ten years, studying under Karlyn
Holman and Lois Osterberg. For the last five years I have been studying
caligraphy and sumi-e painting with Dee Teller. I like to paint horses
in the classic Chinese style. All of the paintings I sell have been for
charity, and I have contributed a number of paintings to Partners in
Recovery which have sold to support sober houses for men and women.
These are my first paintings contributed to ISNR Research Foundation.
