Item Description
A birth doula provides continuous emotional and physical support to laboring women and their partners. I will meet with you and your family once before your birth to discuss your birth wishes. I will be with you through the entire labor, and will provide physical comfort measures, emotional support, and can facilitate communication between the clinical care providers and your family. I will also meet with you once postpartum to discuss the birth and how you are doing.

Amber Ford is originally from the beautiful state of Wyoming. She attended Stephens College for women and has a BFA in Theatre. Her love for the arts brought her to New York City where she currently performs with Treehouse Shakers. The company creates shows for young audiences ranging from infants to teens.
Amber has been working with children for the past seven years in one capacity or another. Other than plays and workshops, she has also worked as a babysitter and nanny for several families. This past winter, she joined The Purpose Project and found herself in the jungles of Vietnam building a library and working with children in an orphanage. Throughout her time working with families, she realized the importance of also nurturing the mother especially during pregnancy and labor. This realization sparked an interest in becoming a birth doula.
Amber has received certificates from MotherLove and is now a DONA International trained birth doula. She had the privilege of studying under the very inspiring Debra Pascali-Bonaro (director of Orgasmic Birth and Organic Birth). She is currently working with the Inwood House in NYC to bring birth doula support to pregnant teens that find themselves in the foster care system.
