Item Description

Digital photographer Michael P. Price presents for bid Eagle's Promise, which was inspired by a photograph he took last year at sunrise in Northern Wisconsin. In his own words: "As I worked on the image, the glowing yellow ball of the sun against the dawn colors made me think about the beauty of the first light of day and how each new day is a gift filled with potential. Near the end of my work on this piece, I realized that this image was really all about an old Ojibwa teaching I had been given many years ago. In the story, the Creator is about to destroy the Earth because human beings had lost their way and the Creator saw no hope in keeping humankind alive any longer. However, just before the destruction was to take place, Eagle makes a promise to the Creator to fly across the face of Mother Earth every day before dawn. And if Eagle can find just one human being still following a good path, then the Creator will let the sun rise another day and life for all of us will continue. So each day we see another dawn is due to Eagle’s promise and the fact that at least one amongst us is still walking a good path. And that there is hope for all of us. So, the last element that I added to finish this image was the silhouette of Eagle flying near the rising sun."

This 12" x 36" giclée digital print has been hand-printed on canvas via a professional ink-jet printer using archival-quality inks. The digital art piece has been framed in a black metal frame, measuring 40.5" wide x 16.25" tall. Eagle's Promise was featured here at the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center for our Mixed Media and Print show for the July 2011 Gallery Night & Day citywide exhibition in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
