Item Description
This is a terrific, market-centric weekend in NYC. Your weekend centers around a 2-night stay at the wonderful London NYC Hotel. With its timeless sense of luxury accommodations marked by sophisticated ease and intuitive yet discreet service, the London is designed to engage both the discriminating business and leisure travelers in a personal suite experience entirely of their own making. The hotel in Midtown Manhattan places you in the center of New York. Fifth Avenue shopping, Broadway theatres, Carnegie Hall, and Central Park are mere steps away.
Included in the item is a dinner for 2 at MAZE, with a menu created by fiery and committed British Chef. Gordon Ramsay. Maze offers a less formal and lively surrounding from which to enjoy the sophisticated and seasonal French cuisine from this accomplished culinary team. This unforgettable experience is complimented by the dynamic energy of The London Bar.
You'll never look at the Greenmarket farmers market the same way again once you go foraging at New York City's flagship farmers market with Chef Louisa Shafia, author of Lucid Food: Cooking for an Eco-Conscious Life. Chef Louisa, a passionate foodie and environmentalist, will meet you at Union Square and deliciously demystify the overwhelming offerings with her earth-friendly cooking knowledge. Louisa will guide you as you select and purchase local produce for a seasonal menu that you and Louisa will put together - you'll also go home with insider recipes, an autographed copy of Lucid Food, and lots of inspiration!. "
Chef Louisa Shafia is a graduate of the Natural Gourmet Instititute. She's worked in such venerable eco-conscious institutions as Millenium, Roxanne's, Aquavit, Pure Food & Wine, started her own environmentally-friendly food consultancy, and now also her own popular food blog. Her 2009 cookbook, Lucid Food, was a finalist for an IACP award in the health category. Louisa was able to fit our Dupont market into her chef tour and we all bought the book!
If all that wasn't enough, we include here a wonderful tasting dinner for 2 at Telepan, where one of our favorite chefs, Bill Telepan creates magnificant food using farmers market ingredients. A graduate of The Culinary Institute of America, the Chef has schooled at some of the world's top kitchens. He apprenticed with the legendary Alain Chapel at his three Michelin star restaurant outside Lyons. On his return to New York in the early 90's, Bill worked with Daniel Boulud at Le Cirque and Gilbert Le Coze at Le Bernardin. Subsequently, he was hired by Alfred Portale at Gotham Bar & Grill, where he was executive sous chef for four years. He moved on to become the executive chef at Ansonia. In l998 Telepan joined JUdson Grill, earning three-stars from The New York Times. Telepan is his crowning glory and a FRESHFARM staff favorite.
