Item Description
Gertrudes restaurant opened at the Baltimore Museum of Art in October 1998, after a complete renovation of the existing space. The interior, labeled "gorgeously sophisticated" by a local restaurant reviewer, is inspired by life on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay: Chef/owner John Shields is a Baltimore native, and he named the restaurant after his grandmother, Gertrude Cleary, who taught him to cook as a child.John is a cookbook author and television cooking show host whose simple, seasonal and innovative food will delight.
The national (Southern Living, Coastal Living, Travel & Leisure) and local (Washington Post, Baltimore magazine, Baltimore Sun newspaper) press have sung their praises about their regional menu, and the preparation of traditional Chesapeake fare with sophistication. And of course, John Shields believes in using local, organic ingredients whenever possible.
It's unclear which you will find more beautiful, the art within one of our local treasures, the BMA or the lunch created by one of our local treasures, John Shields, at Gertrudes. This item includes a gift certificate for Lunch or Brunch for 2.
