Item Description
53.5 x 61 inch framed collage of sketches in black crayon done by the donor's mother, Martha de Crasto- Heinen, an Art Teacher in Holland.
Martha de Crasto- Heinen was born in 1885 and had a Masters in Art. She became vegetarian at 16 years of age,and therefore was thrown out of her parents house later but her father did pay for her studies. People told her mom " You can never have children when you are a Vegetarian!" Well, she had four children. In fact, she was 82 and was never in a hospital. She always taught art in schools and privately and loved working in her yard. Her relatives in Holland have many of her paintings and a few aquarelles and sketchbooks. In the war time she sold one piece of her work.
