Item Description
What series has captured our hearts while engrossing our minds the way Law & Order: Special Victims Unit has? And why? Because of Chris Meloni - that's why! (Ok, because of Mariska Hartigay too!!).
Chris Meloni played NYPD Detective Elliot Stabler in the series for 12 years, garnering an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Series along the way. Other memorable characters include bisexual criminal Chris Keller on the HBO series OZ, and Julia Roberts' fiance in Runaway Bride.
Meloni has appeared in many public service announcements in support of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) issues. In 1999, Meloni jokingly kissed Lee Tergesen (who played Tobias Beecher, Meloni's on-screen boyfriend on OZ) at an awards dinner for GLAAD. In 2006 Meloni was given the Human Rights Campaign’s Equality Award, along with actor Jake Gyllenhaal and director Ang Lee, for his work on behalf of GLBT issues.
This auction item is a Signed Photo of Christopher Meloni.
With his decision to leave the Law & Order: SVU series and the possibility of a major role in the upcoming Superman movie reboot Man of Steel, this collector's item has become a hot commodity.
Item Special Note
The Law & Order franchise has received numerous citations from community-based organizations for the social issues it tackles, and the cast members are frequently recognized for the work they do off-screen to promote personal health and safety and other volunteer efforts and initiatives.
We would not have this great auction item without our wonderful friends at The Gersh Agency-New York. Thanks so much!
