Item Description
This medal is a copy of one worn by pilgrims when they visited Chartres in Medieval times. They sewed it onto clothing or wore it around their necks. The front shows Mary with a halo, holding the infant Jesus; the back shows two clerics carrying the shawl believed to have been worn by Mary, given to Chartres Cathedral in 876. The medal measures about 1-1/2" square.
