No great artist ever sees things as they really are. If he did he would cease to be an artist. Oscar Wilde
Inspired by the bold styles and vibrant palette of early twentieth century artists, Marna Schindler's paintings are expressive representations of animals, places, and objects. Her work focuses on the energy within each of her subjects, where forms are explored, reduced, and re-envisioned. Her compositions invite the viewer to settle in and feel the work, finding sensory experience in shape, line, and color. Painting primarily in acrylic, Marna's work is spontaneous and direct, with unrestrained brushstroke and a fluid, intuitive approach.
Marna holds a fine arts degree from San Diego State University, and is a member of the San Diego Art Institute, the Allied Artists Association of San Diego, and the Coronado Art Association. With over 15 years experience as a graphic designer and illustrator, Marna now paints full-time from her studio in downtown San Diego. Her work can be found in private and corporate collections across the U.S. and Canada.
