Item Description
The high bidder on this unique item receives lunch for two with David Beach, Director of GreenCityBlueLake Institute at the Cleveland Natural History Museum.
David Beach, who grew up in Bay Village, could have gone anywhere in the world after he graduated from Harvard University in 1979.
“But rather than follow a mainstream trajectory, Beach returned to Cleveland, where he has become one of the most important and influential environmental advocates in the region, if not the entire state.” — Steven Litt, The Plain Dealer
In 1992, David founded EcoCity Cleveland. Over the next 1_ years, he built the organization into a nationally recognized center of thought and practice about sustainability and the design of cities in balance with nature. By partnering with other local organizations, Beach and EcoCity helped launch model construction projects such as the EcoVillage townhouses off West 58th Street in Cleveland's Detroit-Shoreway neighborhood.
In 2007, EcoCity Cleveland merged with the Cleveland Natural History Museum to form the GreenCityBlueLake Institute, the museum’s new center for sustainability at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History. The institute provides the area’s primary forum for advancing issues from climate change to urban greening through the GreenCityBlueLake.org website. The site is an online community workspace where the people and organizations advancing sustainability in the region can tell stories, learn from each other, and develop strategies to accelerate the progress. Join the conversation or sign-up to receive an email updates.
Item Special Note
