Item Description
Let Flavor magazine give you an insider's tour of some of the best local wine and food Rappahannock County, Virginia has to offer!
And it doesn't get much more insider than this because your tour guide will be Flavor Magazine Founder and Publisher, Melissa Harris. Flavor Magazine is focused on the celebration of the local, seasonal, authentic foods and culinary traditions that are truly unique to the Capital Foodshed. Each issue presents fascinating portraits of the small family farmers, ranchers, and poultry farmers, food artisans, chefs, wine makers and brew masters who are passionate about their craft.
First? Lunch at 24 Crows in Flint Hill -- a Flavor magazine favorite (not least because of the ice cream handmade every day!).After lunch, Melissa will lead a guided tour and tasting for 2 lucky guests to the acclaimed Linden, Chester Gap, and Glen Manor vineyards and wineries, and an exclusive tasting at one of the newest and most exciting members of the Viginia's wine community, RdV.
The wine tastings will be followed by a dinner at the elegant Blue Rock Inn, which has one of the loveliest views in the area, and the food is as good as the view. The building itself is an enchanting turn of the century converted farmhouse with three dining areas, a pub and four guest rooms. With 360 degree breathtaking views, you have the choice to relax on the patio, in the bar or enjoy the cozy dining room while tasting innovative dishes created by Chef Devin Bozkaya.
The main dining room menu features provencal French cooking using fresh local ingredients while the pub and patio menu provides delectable bistro offerings. Wine pairings compliment the culinary journey through the delightful menu. With views overlooking a sparkling pond against the backdrop of vineyards, orchards, fields and the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, your dining experience will truly be a memorable one.
Flavor has also arranged a one night stay at the gorgeous Glen Gordon Manor in nearby Huntley. Over the years, Glen Gordon Manor has hosted members of the British royal family and set the scene for many memorable hunts and balls. Overlooking Shenandoah National Park from 45 acres of pasture, lawns, gardens and parkland, the captivating retreat glories in views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and neighboring farms and vineyards. Tracing its roots to 1833 as a Wells Fargo stagecoach stop, the main house brims with nostalgic settings: a fire-lit entrance hall, a baronial oak hunt room with minstrel gallery, a stone wine cellar, and a charming country kitchen. Guest rooms echo the warm radiance. Luxuriously appointed Glencroft Cottage suites and spacious Gordon Mews House lend further hospitality, along with a sparkling pool and stables.
A stay at Glen Gordon Manor can best be described as the feeling of being wrapped in cashmere; soft, warm, unassuming and casually elegant.
Those beautiful country roads are dark and winding, so leave the driving to Flavor! The auction winner will also receive one-year subscription to Flavor magazine. The 2011 Feast photos are likely to be included!
