Item Description
Longtime donor Mary Kosowski of Smithfield, Rhode Island has been creating beautiful works of art for many years, and is renowned for her nude sketches and paintings. This framed and matted print of a seated model measures 15”H x 12”W.
Ms Kosowski has been drawing ever since she could hold a writing instrument and continues to do so today. As a student she had the support of her teachers who helped her to realize my graduation from the Rhode Island School of Design. Since then, she has studied with numerous artists such as Daniel Greene and Richard Merkin of N.Y., Jack Callahan and Zygmunt Jankowski of Rockport, Mass., Sam Ames, Don Smith and Angelo Rosati of Rhode Island College, Thomas Sgouros, Anthony Janello and Herman Itchkawich in Providence and others. She has received numerous awards and her work is included in countless collections. She has exhibited in solo exhibitions at the Copley Society in Boston, the Newport Art Museum and the Providence Art Club. Mary's work has been shown in many juried shows, including those at the Rockport Art Association, The Attleboro Museum, Gallery One, Lyme Art Museum (juried by Burt Siverman), and at the Watercolor Society of Rhode Island. She is presently represented by the Copley Society of Boston, the Courtyard Gallery in Mystic, Conn., and the Tradewind Gallery of Charlestown, R.I. She’s constantly involved in the art world. In the 1980s she enjoyed trips to Italy and Switzerland, where she led an International Studies Group. She now work privately in her studio. Her work is influenced by her mentors Egon Schiele, G. Klimt, Pascin, Sargent, Degas and Cassatt and Rodin.
