Item Description
This white hand crocheted shawl is approximately 35" X 23," tapering to narrow end points. It was produced by Artes del Valle, a women's craft group in Colorado organized by RDLN graduate Shirley Ortega. Artes was one of four women's producer groups involved in RDLN's Rural Women's Product Development and Marketing Venture. Shirley earned her master's degree from Antioch University through RDLN.
Artes had the use of a beautiful church in Center, for which Shirley obtained historical preservation funds. After much work had been accomplished, the church decided to take possession of the building again.
Shirley has been a teacher, an ESL instructor, and a healthcare administrator.
