Item Special Note
The Bill Krul Gallery is owned and operated by Bill and Jean Krul, both recent retirees from the University of Rhode Island. Bill taught and conducted research in the Department of Plant Science and Jean was a secretary at the Coastal Resources Institute.
Bill has a lifelong passion for photography and retirement provided the unique opportunity to fulfill this dream. As a child Bill spent many hours alone building huts, fishing and collecting stones in the fields, forests and rivers near home. He considers this exposure to be one of his most important learning experiences. Direct interaction with the environment provided a learning opportunity free of bias, prejudice, religion and politics.
Nature was and still is a great teacher for Bill.
Bills photographic art pays homage to his early and continuing experiences with the local environment. He photographs what he knows best, the beaches, fields and forests, ponds and rivers of southern RI. He has been fortunate to travel and photograph in exotic locations such as Brazil, Tuscany and Portugal and shares some of these images in the gallery.
The gallery space is shared by resident artists (Nancy Saccicio, Ashlee O'Connor, Jesse Haskins, Jan Anthony and Laureen Watjen). Space is also provided for local
visiting artists on a monthly basis.
