Item Description

Created by Maho Camps resident artist AnnaLisa Jensen, this unique piece is a sea to shore view of Salt Pond Bay on St. John's South Shore. Corals, eagle rays and jacks are depicted in the sea, while on shore various cacti loom over the waters edge.  Batik is ancient art of creating wax designs on fabric. AnnaLisa goes one step further using recycled cloth and low-immersion dyes for this piece.  It measures 22" x 36" and is stretched across a wood frame, ready to grace any room!

Item Special Note

About the Art (of Recycling) Center - Maho Bay Camps pioneered the creative use of recyclables into objects of art. Owner Stanley Selengut founded Maho Bay Camps in 1976 on the principle that a vacation should enhance one's awareness of environmental responsibility. Transforming empty bottles, worn linens and waste paper into captivating objects is the latest evolution of Maho's sustainable resource philosophy.  Skilled blowers, potters and other artisans have created a gallery if works and conduct daily classes for adults and children.
