Item Description
The purple and gold vest measures approximately 25' from the shoulder to the bottom and it's about 22" across with the vest open as shown. It was made in China before the Tiananmen era by the Dulong, a minority people who traditionally live in a canyon along the Dulong river valley. Donor Twila Martin-Kekahbah visited China as a Kellogg Fellow and brought a delegation from Turtle Mountain to participate in RDLN's orientation for the NGO Forum on Women in China.
Twila is former Chair of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians and currently consults with the United Tribes Technical College and other organizations. A former Kellogg Fellow, she is a Board member of the Rural Development Leadership Network, a member of the Office of Women’s Health - Minority Women’s Health Panel of Experts and President of the Board of the Housing Assistance Council. She has been a business owner and Director of the Turtle Mountain Tribal College.
