Item Description
Oceanic!
This fused glass set of matching earrings and pendant is made by artist Sheila Smith by cutting and stacking certain glass and then firing it in a kiln to certain temperatures to achieve desired results. The firing process takes about 6 or 7 hours at temperatures of 1200-1500 degrees.
Pendant is 1”x1¼” and the earrings are: ½”x1”. The metal findings attached to the jewelry are silver plated and the ear wires are surgical steel with gold plated attachments that do not touch the ear.
Sheila Smith is a breast cancer survivor. She was first diagnosed in 1995 and then again in 2004 with metastasis to bone. She has some struggles with the side effects and fatigue issues from various treatments she has had. She has found that making glass art helps keep her focused on art, nature, and love in her life.
Item Special Note
The silver plate findings and jewelry can be cleaned and polished with a small bit of toothpaste.
