Item Description
This gorgeous instrument has an exceptionally comfortable neck, easy action, sparkling highs, warm resonant bass notes, an even mid-range perfect for recording, as well as built in Fishman amplification. It's warm cedar top is complemented by lovely abalone details. Signed expressly for Guitars in the Classroom by Tom Petty and all of the Heartbreakers, courtesy of GITC friend Ron Blair, bassist, (seen here with the instrument). This guitar features Tom's signature in gold on the front! The Heartbreakers (Ron Blair, Scott Thurson, Mike Campbell, and Benmont Trench), signed on the upper edge of the lower bout of the guitar for the pleasure of the owner when he or she plays this instrument (see pictures).
About The Instrument: Greg Bennett Rio Grande OM15CE
"Breaking with tradition can be a difficult task, especially in the guitar business. There are certain things that you just don’t change. With all this in mind, we forged ahead anyway. The band of turquoise dyed maple herringbone: the combination of traditional maple with the turquoise is just plain beautiful. On the performance side, we used a quarter sawn, solid cedar top for a more delicate low mid sound, and fitted it with scalloped top braces. The bracing frees up the top for faster attack and longer sustain. The sides and back are highly figured Ovangkohl, for a full, rich bass response with lots of power. If you were looking for something special that maintains a degree of tradition, you will really enjoy the RIO GRANDE™." via Greg Bennett Guitars.
