From my earliest memories, I have always loved animals. Growing up with a disability made me acutely aware of being different, and being treated differently. My animal friends were a refuge. They give such unconditional love and acceptance. In particular, I had a very close bond to dogs. We really understood each other, dogs and I. Having a furry neck to cry in to.  Or a huge grin and wagging tail when I would come home from getting relentlessly teased at school. My relationship with them has been a blessing and very healing.

I also possessed artistic talents from an early age. Not satisfied with the constraints of coloring books, or paint by numbers, I did detailed drawings of animals, trying to make their portraits as realistic as possible. In recent years, oil painting has been my creative outlet. Then I got a good camera to take reference photos with.

I fell head over wheels in love. The immediacy and interaction. Capturing just the right moment.

I feel extremely fortunate to be doing what I do. Combining two great loves. My passion. is capturing images that show the heart and soul of dogs. Special moments. Telling their story, memories that will be treasured forever. They have so much to give and teach us. They touch our hearts with such intensity. Yet, their time with us is so fleeting. I know this all too well, having experienced the sudden loss of my last dog at far too young an age. It’s become so important to me to have many photos of my dog, to be able to look back upon for the rest of my days. And now I feel honored to be able to give that gift to others, and be able to touch hearts.
