Item Description
2001 Chateau du Tertre (Margaux) - One (1) 750ml bottle.
No longer available in stores.
Under the same ownership as Giscours, and benefiting from big investment in recent years, this is an estate at the top of its form. The wine has aromas of sweet, new wood, while the palate is packed with tarry fruits and spicy wood and herbs. Flavors of ripe black currants give a rich, satisfying feel. This is a wine that is well structured, dense and, given another five years, will be delicious. R.V. (6/1/2005)
2003 Croix de Beaucaillou (Saint-Julien) - One (1) 750ml bottle.
While most Bordeaux chateaus used to be inhabited by the owners and winemakers, Ducru-Beaucaillou is now in the minority, especially for those that produce a grand cru classé wine. The Borie family, who has owned this Second Growth estate in Saint-Julien for the last sixty years, still resides on the estate. They are know for producing a wonderfully fragrant, heavily Cabernet-influenced wine with superb cellaring potential. The best vintages offer dramatic perfume of black fruits, cedar, coconut and flowers. The name of the estate references the beautiful large pebbles that mark its terroir, and these stones aid with heat-retention, sun-reflection, and soil drainage.
