Item Description
Fine Art Photography
Tom Clapham was trained as a combat cameraman before being assigned a commission as an intelligence officer. He spent eight years in the Army, including a yearlong deployment to Mosul, Iraq.
This was the engine block of a car used as an IED (a VBIED; vehicle borne improvised explosive device) at a checkpoint in Mosul in 2004. The engine block was located about a hundred yards from where the explosion occurred. Flip the photo 180 degrees and it's easier to discern, but I like it upside down. This shot captures my sentiments about our involvement in Iraq.
