Item Description

Three (3) bottles of Frog's Leap Merlot: One (1) 2007 Merlot Rutherford Napa Valley, and two (2) 2004 Merlot Napa Valley

Say the winemakers:
"The eastern side of the Rutherford appellation is lined with deep clay soils that are the perfect place to grow great merlot. The 2004 Frog’s Leap Merlot is predominantly grown in these soils in the shadow of the Red Barn, yielding a wine of intensity and structure that needs no blending partner. The purity of the merlot varietal shows in the wine’s classic aromas of cherry and ripe red fruit.  On the palate one can easily taste why Cab wasn’t needed for structure – this wine has a balance that is best left to stand on its own. Flavors of chocolate, plum and pepper find great harmony with the plush, soft texture of this merlot. With ripe fruit and clean flavors the wine is a perfect match with frisee aux lardons. We believe that our merlot is another great ambassador of the Frog's Leap style — elegant, balanced and restrained.

"The 2007 Merlot opens with fresh cherry and currant aromas which are underscored with subtle notes of chocolate. Ripe flavors of cherry, cassis and plum are laced with hints of dried herbs and cigar box. The wine’s connection to its Rutherford appellation is reflected in the understated essence of earth and dust. Generous and plump, this wine’s lush texture is balanced with a delicate acidity that promises a long, memorable finish. Perfect with your favorite steak or roast duck.

"Frog or Prince, you will enjoy these bottles of Merlot, produced from grapes grown in some of the Napa Valley's most responsibly farmed vineyards. Rich, flavorful wines have been a Frog's Leap tradition since 1981."
