Item Description
Say the winemakers:
"The 2004 Frog’s Leap Cabernet highlights a soft texture, ripe fruit and a deep connection to the vineyard – and delivers it all with an alcohol level below 14% (made in the most traditional and natural method). Aromas of currant and blackberry combine with a warm spice tone right out of the glass. Flavors of dried black fruits pick up on the palate with added, subtle touches of cedar, leather and a hint of black olive. The wine’s resolved tannins and integrated oak allow for a mouth-feel that is soft yet lean with a long finish that is carried by the bright, natural acid of the fruit. In a classic year, such as 2004, we are compelled to think of the classic food and wine pairings: Cabernet Sauvignon and steak au poivre – Cabernet Sauvignon and black truffle risotto – Cabernet Sauvignon and good company.
"The eastern side of the Rutherford appellation is lined with deep clay soils that are the perfect place to grow great merlot. The 2004 Frog’s Leap Merlot is predominantly grown in these soils in the shadow of the Red Barn, yielding a wine of intensity and structure that needs no blending partner. The purity of the merlot varietal shows in the wine’s classic aromas of cherry and ripe red fruit. On the palate one can easily taste why Cab wasn’t needed for structure – this wine has a balance that is best left to stand on its own. Flavors of chocolate, plum and pepper find great harmony with the plush, soft texture of this merlot. With ripe fruit and clean flavors the wine is a perfect match with frisee aux lardons.
"Grown in the heart of the Rutherford appellation the 2010 Frog’s Leap Sauvignon Blanc alludes to its storied region with aromas of wet stone, peach blossom and Meyer lemon zest. Across the palate the varietal’s fruit character moves forward with more citrus and a touch of stone fruit all supported by the wine’s minerality and crisp, bracing acid. This refreshing wine has a lingering finish that is sure to satisfy on a warm summer’s day, or with an array of dishes from pan roasted Petrale Sole to a few simple slices of Chèvre."
"Frog or Prince, you will enjoy these wines produced from grapes grown in some of the Napa Valley's most responsibly farmed vineyards. Rich, flavorful wines have been a Frog's Leap tradition since 1981."
