This new addition to our auction was well worth the wait!  Artist Bruce Stewart has meticulously painted beautiful portraits of dogs frolicking on a beach scene on this large dog stand.  If your dog loves playing in the sand and chasing waves, he will surely enjoy eating out of this beautiful beach-themed stand!

Item Special Note

This stand is a unique one-of-a-kind piece of art! Because all stands and artwork have been sealed, they can easily be wiped down with a damp towel for easy cleaning.  It is recommended that all stands be used indoors as a precaution against the elements.

Each stand comes with two stainless steel water and food bowls (2 quart for large dog stands, 1 pint for small dog/cat stands).

I was born and raised in the San Joaquin Valley of central California between the Sierra Nevada Mountains and the sea. After college (Zoology and Art at UC Davis) I moved to the coast and have lived within a few miles of a shore ever since. My favorite art instructor at UCD was Wayne Tiebaud, whose sense of color, shapes, and composition still influence my work today. After a stint in a graphics studio in SF and graduate studies in marine ecology at Moss Landing Marine Laboratories on Monterey Bay, I joined the then new Monterey Bay Aquarium as Program Curator in the early 1980s. Moved to Southeast Texas to become Education Director of the new Texas State Aquarium (TSA) in Corpus Christi in 1990. After building the Education Department and working as interim Assistant Director and Director of Husbandry at TSA, I moved back to California and started a consulting firm, Bruce Stewart Associates, serving clients ranging from California State Parks to NOAA's National Marine Sanctuary to the National Marine Biology Museum and Aquarium of Taiwan. In the early '90s I married Roberta Dean and became a father to her 5 yr. old daughter, Jessica. In addition to consulting, I founded the Return of the Natives Environmental Restoration Program (now at CSU Monterey Bay) and led eco-tourism trips internationally (East Africa, Seyshelles, Caribbean, Baja California, Belize, etc.) and became Executive DIrector of the Moss Landing Marine Laboratories. With the arrival of a new baby son in 1998, I joined UC Berkeley's Lawrence Hall of Science as Director of Student and Family Programs. In 2004 I became the Director of Programs and Exhibits at the Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography (BAS). After 3 years at BAS I stepped down to focus on art, founding One Ocean Art Studio to promote ocean awareness and conservation through art. I serve on the board and am a Past President of the San Dieguito Art Guild (SDAG) and exhibit in SDAG's Off Track Gallery in Encinitas and in the Del Mar Art Center. My photos, paintings and drawings have won a number of awards including a Best of Show, and several first place ribbons.
