Item Description
Charming olive green pinwheel button with dot center in a sterling silver setting.
The button jewelry on www.buttonist.com are all handmade from antique and vintage buttons, circa 1830-1960. The buttons are all set in sterling silver.
They tell tales of the last 180 years: revolutions, sea and continent crossings, wars and weddings, empires rising and falling. Always a populist item, there is virtually no one alive who does not have some memory of the humble button.
The jewelry is one-of-a-kind and the pieces all have my artist's mark on them. Every piece of jewelry uses buttons that will never be made again. Because of this, many of the pieces on the site are not reproducible. Sometimes I am lucky and find multiples of the same button, letting me recreate beautiful styles which people have loved.
This jewelry is inspired by the buttons and their beauty. It does not come from a factory. It comes from the silver mines of Mexico. It comes from Czechoslovakia and Victorian England and frontier America. It is the buttons that make this jewelry one-of-a-kind."
