Item Description

Three (3) hours of lessons (any level) with acclaimed concert cellist and dedicated pedagogue, John Kaboff.  A one (1) month rental of a 1/8th - 3/4 size cello is included.

John Kaboff holds a Master of Music Degree and has studied extensively with Janos Starker at Indiana University as well as Jacqueline DuPre's teacher, William Pleeth, at the International Holland Music Sessions in the Netherlands and at the Britten-Peers Summer School in England.  In addition to serving as Mr. Pleeth's teaching assistant, Mr. Kaboff studied at the International Academy of Chamber Music in Kronberg, Germany, with Arto Noras.

A resident of the Washington, D.C. area, Mr. Kaboff has performed as soloist locally at The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, The United States Department of State, The Corcoran Gallery of Art, The Embassies of Germany and New Zealand, The Church of the Epiphany, Dumbarton House and has been a repeat soloist with the JCC Symphony Orchestra and the Landon Symphonette. His concert appearance at Strathmore Hall in Rockville, MD was acclaimed by The Montgomery County Sentinel as "beguilingly lyrical" and in "top form." Internationally, he has performed as recital soloist in the Kleinezaal of the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, The Cologne Museum of Modern Art, Frankfurt Museum of Contemporary Art and The Adelaide Towne Hall.

Mr. Kaboff is a highly successful private teacher of pre-college age students who frequently garner prizes in numerous cello competitions. He and his students were invited to perform at the 2000 World Cello Congress III where they were featured in an internationally broadcast workshop with cellist Yo-Yo Ma. Mr. Kaboff's students, known as the BOW LIGHTLYS, also performed in a cello choir concert at the Sixth American Cello Congress (2001) as part or Mr. Kaboff's appearance as a guest lecturer.

Expires March 15, 2013.  One certificate per family, for new students only.  Students may be children ages 4-13.

Lessons will take place at Mr. Kaboff's home studio in North Arlington at a mutually agreeable time.  Three (3) hours of lessons may be taken as three (3) one (1) hour lessons OR four (4) 45 minute lessons. 

A student and legal guardian must agree to the terms and conditions of the cello rental and return the cello in the same condition.  Details about the rental agreement can be found at www.JohnKaboff.com.
