Item Description

32 x 18 (medium)

Down East Doormats are hand woven by Mainers in their homes. Made from reclaimed lobster trap float-rope, each one is the individual expression of a weaver’s talent, choice of color combinations and the rope’s life in the sea. This combination of factors produces a mat with slightly varying dimensions and subtle differences in rope color and texture. Colorful and pleasing to the eye, Down East Doormats add a cheerful and warm welcome. They trap dirt, mud, snow and sand like no other mat. Cleanup is a snap, just shake the mat out or hose it down. It’s quick drying and virtually indestructible. Easily withstands all kinds of weather. Down East doormats do not absorb water and are resistant to mold and mildew, salt water and sun. Reversible for twice the wear. Just turn them over and start anew. Boaters take note, these mats even float!

The Rag Rug” recalls memories of thrifty New Englanders who made their rugs from rags. As part of a green commitment, Maine Float Rope utilizes scraps to make a version of this old time favorite. Suitable for entry, in front the kitchen sink or mud room, they speak to good old fashioned Yankee ingenuity.
