Item Description

Bright Moon Eventing offers 1 riding lesson with Karen Conk.

Karen Conk
Bright Moon Eventing Owner

When Karen got her first pony Tootsie when she was 11, she knew that horses were going to be her life. Now the dream of having her own horse business is finally coming to fruition with the help of her parents, Mike and Trish Conk. She started Bright Moon Eventing, run out of her parents Bright Moon Farm, with the goal of giving both horses and riders the confidence to succeed at whatever discipline or level they choose.

After getting her start in the hunter/equitation ring, she discovered eventing and hasn’t looked back. She spent four years as a working student for Sharon White while she was in college.  During that time she competed through the intermediate level in eventing as was a member for the 2003 Area II North American Junior Young Rider Team in the CCI*. After graduating college she took her act on the road. Moving to New Zealand, Karen spent a year working as a groom before finding a job in Australia working for Australian eventer Megan Jones.

While working for Megan, Karen groomed at the 2006 World Equestrian Games in Aachen, Germany; the 2007 Olympic Test Event in Hong Kong, China and the 2008 Olympics in Hong Kong, were Megan won the silver medal and was 4th individually.  She was responsible for the care of not only Megan’s upper level event horses but also for horses that were boarded on the property.

After coming home in 2008, Karen is now taking everything she learned while a working student and grooming and is applying it to Bright Moon Eventing.  Whether a horse is in for training or is getting ready to be retired, she applies the standards of care she developed while being an international level groom to the care of every horse in the barn.

It is Karen’s goal as a trainer to help every student and horse prepare for whatever their goals. Whether the goal is to be an upper level eventer or to get a better mark in training level dressage, Karen takes the time with every horse and rider to help them achieve their goals.
