***FEATURED PACKAGE AS PART OF THE 2011 FORBES 30 UNDER 30: FOOD & WINE CATEGORY! HIGHLIGHTING 2011 RECIPIENT, JONATHAN WINGO OF THE WHISKEY SHOP***
Private Whiskey Class for 6 People
The Whiskey Shop is offering a private whiskey class for 6 people. The class focuses on the history, process, and taste of whiskey. Throughout the session, which involves tasting at least 6 different whiskies (surprises are known to pop-up), we highlight American whiskies and the growing craft distilling movement. The goal of the class is to understand the differences is taste, process, and history between American whiskies (like bourbon, rye, and single malts) and their Scotch, Irish, Japanese and Canadian counterparts, while exposing the attendees to interesting and less-mainstream whiskies. The private seminar can be held in the shop or in a home. Jonathan Wingo, the shopkeeper, will be conducting the class which is interactive, light-hearted, and as in-depth as the attendees desire.
The Whiskey Shop is located in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn; next to The Whiskey Brooklyn and down the block from Brooklyn Brewery. We take imbibing seriously, one could say! Opening Mid-July of 2011, we've already been recognized in the New York Times, Travel and Leisure, the Dallas Morning News, and Forbes as a place to visit (and shop!). Featuring American whiskey, with a tight duration of imports, we give special consideration to the up-and-coming craft distillers. The cozy space offers a place for seasoned vets, first-timers, and the once-bitten to find their next favorite, a good starting point, and the redemption dram respectively. We pride ourselves on marrying customers to bottles based on direction, occasion, and need. We host monthly tastings and will be offering public classes throughout the Spring and Summer. differences is taste, process, and history between American whiskies (like bourbon and rye) and their Scotch, Irish, Japanese and Canadian counterparts, while exposing the attendees to interesting and less-mainstream whiskies.
