PATRICIA & HER VISION
Born and raised in Colombia, Patricia Duque was born into an eclectic family of artists and inherited the natural ability to envision and create. Her childhood dream was to be an architect, interior designer, or jewelry designer. She began her professional career as a fashion choreographer.
After a visit to Columbia, she was inspired by the locals who were using natural materials to make jewelry. Guided by her appreciation for the perfect beauty already found in Mother Nature and her love of the environment, she found another artistic outlet that would allow her to create beautiful designs using the simple gifts already abundantly available to us all. Patricia has taken the art of eco-friendly jewelry design to another level with her incorporation of chic design, recycled treasures, vibrant colors, and elaborate textures.
Hers is a truly organic art, using only the raw materials from the earth. She uses beans and seeds such as coffee, cantaloupe, watermelon, peach, pumpkin, cucumber, apricot, mango, avocado, sunflower and acasia. She also uses exotic seeds from the Amazon such as tagua, chinchilla, chochos, ojo de buey, ojo de venado, and many more.
Some of the other materials used in her art are:
Coconut gourd, wood and different fruit peels like orange, lime, lemon, and tangerine
Animals parts such as fish scales, bones, horn, coral, and mother of pearl
Semi precious stones such as quartz and onyx
Recycled/recyclable products like plastic, paper, ceramic, etc.
Metal such as silver, copper and gold alliance
Every detail is handcrafted and painted using vegetable dyes to get a truly unique and genuine masterpiece.
