Item Description
Yes, this is a real egg. A sweet cherub presenting grapes is surrounded by purple glittered scrolls, glass beaded grapes, decoupaged fruit and leaves, and flowers made of sea shells with pearl centers. The rhea egg, (rheas are large, flightless birds similar to an ostrich), sits on a leaf sculptured stand, mounted on a purple agate base. The lattice work on the back, accented with pearls, is surrounded by glittered scrolls, shell flowers and decoupaged leaves.
The egg with stand is about
71/2" tall and about 3 1/2 " wide.
Item Special Note
The egg symbolizes the source of life. Giving a decorated egg has been an Old World tradition for centuries and egg art continues to this day. Many different techniques were used to design and craft this exquisite egg in the Faberge' style. Individually designed and handcrafted from start to finish, this original design was created and signed by egg artist Carole Lewandowski, a member of the IEAG (International Egg Art Guild) for over 20 years and proud Mother of PMP survivor Jerry.
