Your family (2 adults and 2 children) will experience a real life Polar Express to the North Pole on the Nevada Northern Railway.

Children and adults are encouraged to wear pajamas for this magical journey to the North Pole, which follows the story of the Polar Express, which is read aloud. Servers in white chef's hats and jackets happily serve cookies and hot chocolate to guests. At the North Pole, Santa boards the train and visits with everyone on board. Don't forget your camera! On the return trip to the Ely Depot, everyone is invited to sing Christmas carols.

This special journey is for everyone who believes in the magic of Christmas -- and those who do will receive a silver bell. The Polar Express runs no matter what the weather November 19 -- December 27, 2012. Trains are heated but prepare for snow.

The Nevada Northern Railway Museum, established in 1905, is a National Historic Landmark; the jewel in picturesque Ely, Nevada, halfway between Las Vegas and Salt Lake City (about 240 miles, with flights from Las Vegas' (McCarran Airport to Ely on Great Lakes Airlines). This "living," interactive Museum features operating steam and diesel locomotive trains, with approximately 60 acres of original, authentic grounds, track and buildings to explore. Guided and self-guided tours are complimentary with train rides. Trains run year-round, except March, to the delight of both children and adults. You can even ride in the cab with the Engineer -- or stay a night in a caboose. Of all preserved railroads in the country, The Nevada Northern Railway Museum is considered to be "the best...bar none" by the Smithsonian. It offers a variety of rare and unique programs, including Railroad Reality Weeks for teens and adults, Winter Photo Shoots, and the ever-popular "Be the Engineer & Take the Throttle" program, where one can actually operate/drive a locomotive -- no experience necessary; and now with the train (freight cars) attached.
