Camp Description
Science of Sports!
On your marks, get set, go! Learn all about the Science of Sports as we prepare for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. Campers will investigate human physiology, biomechanics and nutrition, and experiment with aerodynamics and hydrodyamics to design their own technology-enhanced sports equipment. We will discover how climate affects the selection of Games locations and use math and computing to explore scores and statistics. We even build and program our own robotic 'athletes'!
General Information:
- Campers include 1st-5th graders
- Camp Hours: 8:30 am - 3:30 pm
- To comply with Virginia Law: Campers must be at least 6 years old at the start of the camp.
Ideaventions is a science and technology enrichment program geared to children ages 3 - 13. It is a place where no idea is too crazy, divergent thinking rules and where children, the adults of tomorrow, can learn that the only thing that can't be done is the thing that hasn't been tried.
Children are full of ideas and have a natural curiosity about our world. We want to share and nurture that love for the sciences. We offer children the opportunity to express their creativity through the multi-sensory exploration of the world, big and small.
Item Special Note
Does NOT include extended care hours. For an additional charge, there are extended hours from 3:30 to 6:00 pm. "Explore Some More" is our extended hours program to allow campers to participate in guided exploration of their choosing, for $120/week.
