Item Description
Chanhassen Dinner Theatre has a lot to brag about. The theater has hosted the world premieres of many of the Nunsense shows; the longest running musical with original cast (I Do! I Do! from 1971- 1993); and was the home of Academy Award and Golden Globe nominee Amy Adams (1996-1999). Treat yourself to dinner and a show, and join the 10 million people who've already discovered this Minnesota gem.
Hairspray, Broadway's musical-comedy phenomenon that inspired a movie and won eight 2003 Tony Awards, is currently running through May 26th. Chanhassen's production of this fabulous show has received rave reviews. It's 1962, and pleasantly plump Baltimore teen Tracy Turnblad has only one desire - to dance on the popular 'Corny Collins Show.' When her dream comes true, Tracy is transformed from social outcast to sudden star, but she must use her newfound power and the help of a crazy cast of characters, to dethrone the reigning Teen Queen, win the affections of heartthrob Link Larkin, and integrate a TV network, all without denting her 'do'. You'll love it!
Xanadu opens at Chanhassen in June, and runs through the end of September. It's a musical spoof of the '80s cult classic Olivia Newton-John film. This riotous roller-skating, disco-dancing adventure weaves an electrifying tale of endless fun that will keep you in stitches. Featuring popular '80s songs like 'Magic', 'All Over The World', and 'Xanadu', it's great fun for adults, children and anyone who has ever wanted to feel inspired.
From October through the end of January 2013, Chanhassen plans the musical classic, Bye Bye Birdie. Be prepared to 'Put on a Happy Face!' When Elvis-like rock & roll star Conrad Birdie is about to be inducted into the Army, the teen nation is united by a national publicity contest where Birdie will bid a typical American teenage girl goodbye with an all-American kiss live on The Ed Sullivan Show. A satire done with the fondest affection, Chanhassen Dinner Theatres breathes new life into this Broadway Tony-Award winning show.
