Killer Cabernets!
Sbragia Family Vineyards Monte Rosso 2004, Sonoma
Wine Advocate 94:
Ed Sbragia, the long-time and highly-esteemed winemaker at Beringer also has his own family operation. The brilliant 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Monte Rosso is even better out of bottle than it was from barrel. It possesses an earthy terroir character of graphite, hot bricks, and scorched earth that brings to mind a ripe vintage of Haut-Brion. Black currants, sweet cherries, and spice are also present in this dark ruby/purple-hued wine. Broad, savory, and rich with copious fruit, glycerin, and sweet tannin, it should age beautifully for two decades or more.
O'Shaughnessy Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain 2006, Howell Mountain, Napa
Wine Advocate 94:
One of the superstar estates on Howell Mountain, winemaker Sean Capiaux is the force behind these impressive reds. A dense purple color in addition to plenty of creme de cassis, crushed rock, blueberry, and brioche-like notes are found in this full-bodied Cabernet. It avoids the rustic tannins of this vintage, and exhibits good sweetness and purity of fruit. Consume it over the next 15-20 years.
Plumpjack Cabernet Sauvignon Estate 2004, Oakville, Napa
Wine Advocate 94:
The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) exhibits a dark ruby/purple hue along with a sweet bouquet of scorched earth, smoky new oak, black currants, roasted coffee beans, and a hint of leather. Blueberry and blackberry fruit characteristics also emerge from this full-bodied, supple-textured, opulent, flamboyant, sexy
