Item Description
Have you heard the buzz about Doobie's truffles? Independent chef and Hopkins parent Doobie Kurus has raised over $75,000 for local charities - one delicious bite at a time. D-LISH Catering has been around for 10 years, making hosts just as happy as the non-profits he benefits. Here's a box of his delectable truffles, lovingly hand-made just for you.
Doobie Kurus is a busy guy: a former stay-at-home dad, he's a special education teacher in Minneapolis, a dedicated volunteer in the Hopkins School District, a triathlete, and last but not nearly least, a truffle maker. After taking a truffle-making class at Hopkins community Ed, Kurus donated a batch for a church function, and word got around. He now sells his truffles, reimbursing himself only for the ingredients and supplies, and donates the profits to the charities of his choosing. His truffles are in high demand around Christmas and Valentine's Day. In a Star Tribune article profiling him, Kurus was asked why he doesn't expand his truffle enterprise. He answered, "I have thought about doing it as a business but I don't know if it would be fun anymore." Eating them, however, is pretty darn fun. Although it may be difficult, please try to share.
An assortment of 42 pieces and 7 flavors (1 1/2 pounds) of handmade chocolate truffles crafted by Doobie Kurus.
