Item Description
Savor a truly outstanding wine. Given 93-94 points by The Wine Advocate, this Bordeaux is described as being "one of the three best Moutons since the great 1959" vintage and "one of the most complete wines of the vintage." Anticipated maturity: 2000-2025.
To commemorate the Allied victory in 1945, Baron Phillipe de Rothschild decided to embellish the Mouton Rothschild label with art. Each year a famous artist is asked to produce a design for the label. The 1990 Paulliac label was designed by Francis Bacon. While many of Bacon's works featured tortured souls and monsters, the wine label depicts a tamed monster enjoying a glass of wine!
