About Sacramento Iceland
Sacramento Iceland, Inc. is a California nonprofit corporation created to promote, advance and sponsor ice sports, primarily skating and hockey, on a recreational and amateur basis primarily for you in the Sacramento, California region. The specific goals of the corporation are to (1) provide ice rink facilities at the former Iceland Skating Rink at 1430 Del Paso Blvd, Sacramento, CA; (2) provide ice sports lessons (primarily skating and hockey) and activities primarily for youth, (3) facilitate amateur figure skating and hockey competitions, (4) sponsor and conduct public and private community events to encourage and promote ice sports on a community-wide level. Our 501(c)(3) non-profit status was approved on October 26, 2011.
History of Iceland
Iceland Ice Skating Rink has been a fixture in Sacramento since 1940 and was a venue for a countless number of shows and fun for all who have skated here. Iceland operated continuously from November 4, 1940 until March 28, 2010 when a 5 alarm arson fire burned the rink to the ground.
We have a long journey ahead and hope to raise enough money to fund skating at Iceland so she continues to be able to bring the joy of skating to future generations.
Iceland is located at 1430 Del Paso Blvd in Sacramento.
