Item Special Note
In a career that spanned two decades Alfredo Bouret achieved considerable acclaim as a fashion illustrator after he arrived in Paris from his native Mexico in 1948. Combing a free and expressive use of line Bouret created iconic images for many of Europe's greatest post war fashion houses, including Balmain, Chanel, Dior and Givenchy. Bouret's dazzling impressions and animated lines quickly brought him to the attention of master couturier Balenciaga who allowed him to draw from his collections. Bouret was the only artist of any discipline granted his honor. His long association with both Vogue and Harpers Bazaar brought him worldwide recognition.
