Item Description
Edward Runci was known for the attention he paid to his subjects’ lips, so the pin-ups he painted were immediately distinguishable from the paintings of his peers, who typically emphasized the breast or legs of their models. A “Runci Girl” always had lips that were a bit larger and, more often than not, sexier, than most other calendar girls. His creamy and smooth paint style was similar to that of Sundblom and Elvgren and their students.
Edward Runci's daughter pointed out that the picture entitled 'A Pair of Winners 1950' was not painted by her father, but rather was painted by her mother Maxine. The painting is signed M. Stevens, the artistic name Maxine Sunderman used in her early years. Later she painted under the name M. Runci.
Image with white border is approximately 16" x 20"; actual image is approximately 14.5" x 18"
