Item Description
Kay Ameche (1904-2005)
Kay Ameche was a nurse in the Hollywood area often caring for entertainment industry celebrities.
One day, she envisioned a seascape for her wall, but she couldn't find what she wanted. She decided to paint it herself. The artist was sometimes likened to Grandma Moses because of her naive folk art style and because she began to paint in her sixties.
Her first two paintings sold for $250, and by the early 1990s they were going for $5,000 to $10,000 each. Some of Kay Ameche's collectors are Ronald Reagan, Nelson Rockefeller, George Burns, Katharine Hepburn, and Elton John.
An established American contemporary painter and printmaker, Kay Ameche's work is influenced by NAIVE ART, ILLUSTRATION and POP styles.
Print signed and numbered by artist (148/250) Print suitable for framing. Image with white border is approximately 26.5" x 22.5"; actual image is approximately 22.5" x 16.5"
