Item Description
Dan Bodelson is a realist oil painter who captures the life and land of the Southwest. Raised in Boulder, Colorado, Bodelson graduated from high school in Santa Fe, New Mexico and went on to the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland where he earned his bachelors degree in Fine Art in 1972. Working briefly as an illustrator in San Francisco, Bodelson soon returned to Santa Fe to pursue his dream of being a full time artist. His subjects range from western scenes, past and present, to landscapes and wildlife. When it comes to his subject matter, there is no limit to the flow of ideas. Prior to each painting, he draws his ideas in oil with either a pen or brush on primed linen, never hesitating to draw, sketch or re-sketch his thoughts. He works from photographs, sketches, and on-site setups with live models (many from the Santa Fe Indian School) to create his romantic-style oil paintings. Dan’s work is held in many esteemed fine art collections and well known in the industry. He currently resides in Santa Fe, New Mexico where he takes great inspiration from the life and history that surrounds him.
