Pastry Chef David Guas
In September 2007, Pastry Chef David Guas exchanged his longtime corporate role for an entrepreneurial path that includes private consultation, boutique catering, cookbook authoring, and a new retail coffeehouse and southern bakery. Damgoodsweet Consulting Group is the irreverent name he gave his company; DamGoodSweet - Desserts to Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth New Orleans Style is his first cookbook [Taunton Press].
In 2003, Bon Appétit featured Guas as one of eight "Dessert Stars" in the country. The following year, he was named "Pastry Chef of the Year" by the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington. Guas' dessert style, best described as ‘elegant comfort food,' has earned him further accolades and recognition from such exalted sources as Esquire, Food & Wine, Pastry Arts and Design and Food Arts magazines. His comfortable down home persona gets him regular invitations to appear as guest chef on The Today Show.
DamGoodSweet has already won coveted accolades from respected publications: "Favorite New Dessert Cookbooks," Food & Wine Magazine; "One of Thirteen Best Cookbooks," AOL's Slashfood.com; and one of three cookbooks that "Make Baking More Fun Than Ever," Saveur magazine. Dam Good Sweet consistently lands on all the top cookbook lists for its southern style desserts that can be prepared in kitchens everywhere.
